SISU & CELOSIA

Sympathy flowers for a sweet girl lost too soon. I’d be lying if I told you I didn’t lose it the entire time from start to finish making this piece. Everything but the roses and solidago were grown on site at Cosmo Cottage. Koa and I processed each stem together discussing the importance of flowers, the language of flowers, and how they are gifted. We carefully selected blooms to represent a flower lover that was showered in blossoms in celebration of her life. Thank you for trusting us with such an occasion. Our whole family put our all into this.

SUPERNOVA

This is one of my favorite designs this year. Made for a dear friend and mama that had to walk her teenage son through the heavy grief of losing a friend too soon. Often times as mothers, we internalize our own feelings to care for our kids through unspeakably difficult situations. I designed this “Supernova” floral arrangement to capture the beauty of release under immense pressure. The stars that shatter in the explosion of our emotions once we are able to walk out of the field of view of our kids to “cry it out”. Grief floral arrangements don’t have to take us further into sorrow, but remind us of our strength and the beauty of friends and family that have been taken too soon.

Ok. So… oh ma goodness. This 8th grade sweetheart rode his bike to the farm when I wasn’t open yet and asked for flowers. We were still under construction and I couldn’t help at the time. I was crushed. BUT, he came back 2 days ago and told me his mom really loves pink and he wants to surprise her with flowers for Mother’s Day. You bet your ass I was ready for it. The most kind, considerate, and well-mannered young man I have met in a long time. We went wild with this one y’all. Half was grown on site and pulled from the garden this morning. Half was sourced. I don’t know who raised this kid, but girl, you did great. Gabriel’s’ mama, whoever you are that lives a mile or so away from our farm… if you see this I hope you love your flowers. I about cried writing the card for this order and you deserve the world. Happy Mothers Day! I absolutely LOVE my job. -V
